Terms of Service
HotkeyClash is free, open-source software under GPL-2.0. These terms are short, plain, and there is nothing to pay for. The software license itself is the GPL-2.0; the terms below cover the basics of using the app.
Acceptance of these terms
HotkeyClash ("the app") is free and open-source software provided by Wunderlandmedia ("we", "us"). By downloading, installing, or using the app you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
License
HotkeyClash is licensed under the GNU General Public License, version 2.0 (GPL-2.0). Your rights to use, study, modify, and redistribute the software are governed by that license, the full text of which is included with the source code. These Terms supplement, and do not replace, the GPL-2.0. Where the two conflict regarding the software license, the GPL-2.0 controls.
No charge
The app is provided free of charge. There are no accounts, subscriptions, in-app purchases, or paid tiers. We do not sell the app or your data.
What the app does
HotkeyClash scans keyboard shortcut registrations on your Mac and reports where they conflict. It reads data from running apps, supported config files, and macOS system settings. It does not edit, reassign, or delete any of your shortcuts, and it makes no network connections.
Accessibility permission
The app requires macOS Accessibility access to read the menu-bar shortcuts of running apps. You grant this permission yourself in System Settings and can revoke it at any time. You are responsible for deciding whether to grant it. The app uses the permission only to read shortcut information, as described in our Privacy Policy and visible in the open source.
No warranty
The app is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the app is error-free, that conflict reports are complete or accurate, or that it will run uninterrupted. This mirrors the warranty disclaimer in the GPL-2.0.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Wunderlandmedia shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary damages arising out of or related to your use of, or inability to use, the app. You use the app at your own risk.
Acceptable use
You agree to use the app in compliance with applicable laws. You may not use it to attempt to access shortcut or system information on devices you do not own or are not authorized to inspect.
Third-party software and trademarks
The app references and reads configuration for third-party tools (such as Karabiner-Elements and skhd) and names other apps for comparison. Those names and trademarks belong to their respective owners and are used for identification only. We are not affiliated with or endorsed by them.
Updates and changes
We may release new versions of the app at our discretion. We may also revise these Terms from time to time; when we do, we will update this page and the date below. Continued use of the app after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Germany, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Nothing in these Terms limits any rights you may have under mandatory consumer-protection laws in your country of residence.
